Yes,... I am old

From ANDY PALAMINO
I wanted to share this with you since 3 league members have already given it a try (Nik, Stray & Ed).
I think I shared this with you in the past, but I cant remember. Essentially what I do is create Fantasy Baseball style auctions to bid on historical baseball seasons. The auctions are conducted via ZOOM, participants are given a salary cap and once the teams are constructed I replay entire seasons with the APBA computer game to determine who assembled the best team. The auctions take about 6 hours and the follow-up ZOOM meeting to conduct the season simulations takes about another hour.
Below is the link to my website for more details and also my You Tube channel. If you watch parts of the videos you'll quickly see the basic premise. The next Sim Auction I have planned is for Saturday, 9-13. I have 2 spots open in case any Leggers are interested. We'll be using the players from the1946 Cleveland Indians, 1947 Boston Braves, 1954 New York Giants, 1967 Pittsburgh Pirates, 1969 Minnesota Twins

Sounds like something that some of you may want to try out. Appears to be an interesting premise.
Gentlemen, if nothing else, take a few minutes to view the auction that is on the baseballsimauctions.com website. It's quite interesting.

From NIK:
Franchise Points - I have decided to waive the in-season maximum of 30 franchise points for teams, but we will maintain the 30-FP cap prior to the annual drafts.
SEASON 6 LOOK AHEAD
A few points for Season 6 ...
1. Version in Use - We will continue to use version 5.75 for the foreseeable future
2. Sad news - For those of you familiar with Jamie Campbell (Middle Channel Sturgeon) you probably know by now that he has resigned from all of his leagues. While he will continue to operate the Sturgeon for the remainder of this season, he will be stepping down at the end of Season 5. An original owner, Jamie's contribution to the league will be missed. His departure leaves us with 28 owned and 2 vacant teams.
3. Contraction - We will be contracting to 28 teams for Season 6. There will be 14 teams in each league with both leagues using the DH. Prior to the Season 6 annual free agent draft, we will hold a 2-round dispersal draft of both the Minnesota and Middle Channel teams. The draft order will be determined randomly based on team winning percentages over the first five LEG seasons:
The top 7 teams (Teams #1-7) will each have a 2% chance of 1st pick
Teams 8-14 will each have a 3% chance
Teams 15-21 will each have a 4% chance
Teams 22-26 will each have a 5% chance
Teams 27-28 will each have a 6% chance
4. Voluntary Movement to the NL - I am looking for one American League owner to volunteer to move to the NL West to take the place of Minnesota. As we are using a universal DH starting next season the move should be relatively innocuous.
5. Season 6 Carding - Season 6 carding will begin immediately upon my return from the national softball championships in Manitoba and Ontario - Approx Aug 25. Please contact me (no immediate hurry) to arrange how you want to do the card selections (email / chat / text).

I had to put this sample on the site. I just love the way Ron Groski writes in the manner of his team's name, ... The Shakespeares

Delaware Blue Hens
Stratford Shakespeares

Series Preview:
Attend, good folk, and list a tale of might,
Where Stratford’s troupe did on the field engage,
Against bold Delaware, in contest tight,
Their bats unsheathed, their gloves a vengeful cage.
Game #1:In first encounter, tight and scoreless kept,
Till Delaware by cunning slip did break,
A wild pitch loosed, where hapless Shakespeare wept,
Two runs they stole, yet Stratford would awake.
Altuve fell by Brewer’s errant throw,
Ortiz took wing, though fleet he is but not—
A single run they carved from out their woe,
Yet Delaware held firm, their lead unbought.
So closed the fray, two runs to one the fate,
The Shakespeares bowed, yet vowed to storm the gate.

Series Summary:
Thus ends this tale of diamond’s fierce delight,
Where Shakespeares wrote their triumphs in the night.

From Nik
June 17 - Guys a huge apology as I muddle through an absolutely chaotic late Spring and early Summer.
This has resulted me to be a couple of Player Awards Weeks behind (BTW .., there will be one award for Weeks 8/9) and behind on a project to try and centralize a few things which include but are not limited to Awards History, Trade Register, Draft Grid and so on.
Much appreciated for continuing to cope with this.

At the recent APBA Convention and Tournament, Nigel Earhart (Charm City - NL) and Andy Palamino (Havana - AL) "ended up, unexpectedly, sitting next to each other at dinner last night. Imagine our surprise when we discovered who each other was. It’s a fun time down here in Georgia. Hopefully some of you will come down sometime for the convention." - Nigel
WOW! Gentlemen, that was great that you got to meet each other while sharing a passion for APBA/BBW
