2025 Franchise Point Usage - A redundant post
2. FRANCHISE POINT USAGE
There will be several opportunities to use Franchise Points before the season starts which can be divided into Pre-Draft and Post-Draft/Pre-Season as well as perks that can be purchased any time after the Draft:
a) PRE-DRAFT - there is only one option to use Franchise Points ... Multi-Year Contract Discounts. These discounts only apply to players drafted in this season's draft and not to anyone already on a roster. The options are as follows:
Option 1 – Discount of 5% for Season 2 and 10% for Season 3;
Option 2 – As Option 1 plus discount of 20% for Season 4; or,
Option 3 – As Option 2 plus discount of 30% for Season 5.
b) PRE-SEASON (post-draft)
Details are in the Guide and will be provided again after the draft, but the options to spend FP are:
i) EXPAND PLAYER POSITION ELIGIBILITY (Cost = 3 FP per position per player) - A player can add an eligible position to his current season card only if he has played that position before. This does not apply to 2-way players who may not have pitched in a given season, i,e. you cannot add a pitching grade. If purchased, the player will get the defensive rating from the first previous season that he played that position or, if an earlier season is not available, the earliest season following the currently carded season;
ii) INJURY RATING REDUCTION (Cost = 2 FP per adjustment per player) - improve the injury rating by one grade for up to five players, but not to a J-0.
iii) BETTER TREADMILLS (Cost 1 FP per point per player) - improve the baserunning (not stealing) rating of up to 3 players up to 2 points.
iv) PITCHER DURABILITY UPGRADE (Cost 2 FP/reliever, 3 FP/Starter) - improve durability by one point. Split grade pitchers durability upgrade costs 3 for both grades. FYI, durability is the pitcher's ability to last longer in a game without becoming fatigued.
c) PRE- and IN-SEASON
i) EMERGENCY PLAYER PICKUP (Cost 1 FP) - if you find yourself short at a position for whatever reason and trading is not an option to pick up an unaffiliated player. Regardless of the time of season the player is picked up or for how long a team uses him, the team must pay 50% of his base salary. At the time the player is picked up, the team must designate who he is replacing (if you can't fill the SS position due to fatigue or injury the player being replaced must be a SS and can't be someone else). The player being replaced cannot be used and must remain on the Farm Team for as long as the Emergency Pickup is on the roster
ii) SINGLE INJURY REDUCTION (Cost 1 FP) - reduce any single injury by 50%. Reduction occurs between series.
iii) GLOBAL INJURY REDUCTION (Cost 5 FP) - reduce all injuries for a team by 50% for the year. Reduction occurs between series.
iv) CANCEL INJURY (Cost 2-4 FP) - cost is based on duration of the injury: <15 days (2 FP); 16-30 days (3 FP); >30 days (4 FP). Cancellation only applies between series.
