Rancocas Valley vs Millersville. These teams had nearly identical records. RV manager O'Connell was concerned with Millersville's great starting pitching, while RV probably had the advantage with the bats. Bob and Brian played via team viewer and pick up the series on Wednesday night.

 

Game 1 - Rancocas Valley 3-2-- Pete Alonso hits a 2 run homer in the bottom of the 1st off of Cole. Lowe hits a solo shot for Millersville in the second to cut the lead to 2-1. Both pitchers are dealing but RV gets a solo shot in the 6th to move to score to 3-1. In the top of the 8th the Monarchs scored a run to make it 3-2  which was the final. Glasnow for RV was on as he went 6 innings 1 run and 2 hits striking out 12 batters with zero walks. RV Phillie pitchers struck out 15.

 

Game 2- Rancocas Valley 3-1 -- Verlander at K Hendricks  Scoreless until the top of the sixth when Machado hit a double to score McNeil as Millersville goes up 1-0. In the bottom of the 7th Jay Bruce comes off the bench and blasts a homer to tie it at 1. Eloy Jimenez went back to back 2-1 RV. The Phils scored another in the eight for the 3-1 final and the Phils go up 2-0.

 

Game 3 - Rancocas Valley 7-1 -- Woodruff at Kershaw. RV scored 5 in the first and 2 in the 2nd vs Kershaw. Alonso and K Marte both homered and this game wasn't close 7-1 final. The Monarch pen went 6 scoreless. Woodruff went 6.2 scoreless with 10 k's for the winners, who surprisingly goes up 3-0.

 

Game 4 - Millersville 6-5 -- Glasnow at Cole. This was the best game so far. Millersville bats finally started clicking. RV opened the scoring in the top of the 5th when Alex Bregman singled score Brian McCann. Brandon Lowe hit one way back for 2 runs for Millersville to grab the lead 2-1. Machado added a big hit to drive home 2 and it's 4-1 Monarchs as they look to avoid a sweep. Both teams exchange a run in the 7th and its' 5-2. Top 8 Brantley homers for Rancocas 5-3. We head to the 9th. Ian Happ off the bench homers for RV vs Webb all of sudden it's 5-4 with none out... With one out Matt Joyce also comes off the bench and goes yard we are all tied at 5!! Here comes Stanton for Millersville to lead off the bottom of the 9th. He goes yard and the Monarchs make it 3 games to 1 to avoid a sweep and send the fans home with some hope.

The series continues with Rancocas Valley visiting Millersville up 3 games to 1. Verlander on the mound vs Kyle Hendricks.

 

Game 5 - Rancocas Valley 9-4

T1 Rendon hits a 2 run homer on a rare RV hit and run to score Bregman and go up 2-0

Millersville is getting hits but can't get one home as it is still 2-0 through 5 innings

 

T6 Redon up with runners on 2nd and 3rd hit to Machado who boots it and both Bregman and Brantly score on the E 4-0 RV

     Alex Dickerson hits a bloop 2 out single to bring in Alonso who doubled 5-0 RV

 

T7 With two outs Brantley doubles home McCann 6-0 RV. Alonso adds a two run double 8-0 RV.

 

T8 AJ Pollock ph solo homer 9-0 RV

 

B8 Kyle Henricks appears to be tiring and is lifted with the bases full. Yordan Alvarez hits a slam off of Kintzler 9-4 RV.

 

That would be the final score as RV defeats Millersville 4 games to 1.

 

There wasn't a clear cut MVP. I will give it to Kyle Hendricks 2 starts both quality and went 1-0 with a 2.57 14 innings 13 K's both vs Verlander. RV out homered Millersville 11-3.

 

Great year by Bob we both had the same about of wins and as Bob said his big pitchers didn't get the job done.
